We’re ridiculously excited to introduce you to the Badass Blood Peach — and no, this is not your grocery store peach.
This peach began as a seedling of Indian Free, which is already considered one of the most exquisite peaches in the world. But this seedling did something wild. It leveled up.
The Badass Blood Peach is a freestone peach with deep crimson flesh marbled through golden yellow, bringing gorgeous color and a flavor that stops people mid-bite. Think classic peach sweetness with distinct raspberry notes and a subtle tart edge — the kind of complexity that usually signals higher phytonutrient content.
It’s a one-of-a-kind seedling that somehow checks every box — stunning, delicious, productive, tough, and totally unbothered. After watching it thrive and crank out hundreds of peaches without help, the name Badass Blood Peach just stuck.
Why We Love It
Here are some of the reasons why we love the Badass Blood Peach...
1) RED-STREAKED FLESH - These crimson streaks not only add a flare of berry flavor to the sweet peachy flavor, but the red pigment also means boosted phytonutrients, making it an extra healthy variety.
2) NATURALLY PEST-RESISTANT SKIN - the unusual gray fuzz seems to confuse animals, meaning less loss to pests. This is the only stonefruit in our orchard that we don't net. We didn't lose a single peach to squirrels, birds, or any pests last year. It's kind of a miracle, actually--because we lose quite a lot of our other peach varieties to pests. Can you blame them? Who doesn't love a good peach?
3) PEACH LEAF CURL-RESISTANT- We did nothing for this tree, not even organic sprays or treatments, and didn't have any peach leaf curl or other fungal issues.
4) FREESTONE PIT- easy to slice, pit, preserve, and devour.
4) CRAZY PRODUCTIVE - We harvested over 300 delicious red-fleshed peaches last year.
How to Grow It
Here's how to grow Badass Blood Peach:
| SUN | FULL SUN |
| MOISTURE | AVERAGE TO LOW WATER (once established) |
| GROWING ZONES | PERENNIAL OUTDOORS ZONES 5-9 |
| SIZE | 12-15 ft TALL AND WIDE (Easily kept at 8-10 ft with pruning) |
| PRO TIP |
When you receive your seeds, gently crack the shell with a nutcracker or vise and remove the seed inside, being careful not to crush it. Cracking the pit greatly increases the chance of germination this season. Next, give the seeds cold, moist time either by placing them in a slightly damp paper towel or moist soil in the refrigerator for 8–12 weeks, or even simpler, by wintersowing them and planting them about 1 inch deep outdoors in winter and letting nature handle the chilling. As temperatures warm in spring, the seeds will sprout on their own. |
How to Harvest & Use It
Harvest when fruit gives slightly to gentle pressure, releases easily from the branch, and is deeply fragrant. The freestone makes it so much easier to process these. We have loved them every way we've processed them: fresh, frozen, dehydrated, fruit leather, and freeze-dried. We're so excited for you to have this wonderful fruit growing for you and your family.
